Porsche Service: Air Conditioning

Now that summer is in full swing here in the Calabasas, CA region, you likely have noticed if the air conditioning in your Porsche car isn’t functioning as it should.

There’s nothing worse than stepping into your Porsche car on a scorching day only to discover that the AC is blowing out warm air. AC maintenance and repair is something that we specialize in here at our Porsche service center at Porsche Woodland Hills. Here is what you need to know about air conditioning service.

How Often Should My Air Conditioner Be Inspected?

In order for your air conditioner to work at maximum efficiency, it should be inspected at least once per year. During the inspections, our mechanics will make sure it has enough freon and refrigerant (more on those later), and we’ll see if it needs a recharge.

What is Freon?

Whether you drive a Porsche Macan, a Porsche Cayenne, or some other model, freon is not likely to be used in your AC system, unless it was manufactured before the mid-1990s when the EPA banned it. Since it was banned, the auto industry has switched to the CFC-free R-134A, which is less harmful to the environment.

What Parts Make Up a Car’s AC System?

Your car’s air conditioning system consists of five major parts, all working together to cool you off. They are built with:

  • Compressor
  • Condensor
  • Receiver dryer or accumulator
  • Orifice tube or expansive valve
  • Evaporator

How Often Does My AC System Need to Be Recharged

When you feel like that cool breeze isn’t as cool as it once was, you likely need a recharge. Keep in mind that some models can go their entire lifespan without needing to have their air conditioning recharged.

When you need air conditioner repair, trust the expert mechanics here at Porsche of Woodland Hills.
